Apparently YouTube will launch a few paid subscription channels where viewers can pay $1 to $5 per month to access the content on that channel. While there’s a lot of controversy on whether or not this is a good thing, the bigger question I think is how the word “subscribe” will create confusion for people who are not as familiar with YouTube. The word “subscribe” implies paying for something, so maybe YouTube would be better off to change the word “subscribe” to “follow” or something more easily understood.
