Operations management involves the production of the good or service to be produced. Operations management involves overseeing the functional areas of the business. For example it overseas production, the stores, internal transport, machinery maintenance, and all of the other functions necessary to maintain I manufacturing business.
We may also encounter operations management in other sectors for example in the banking sector, there will be a Department, or departments, dedicated to running and developing their online presence in the marketplace.
We must therefore distinguish between strategic and operational parts of businesses.
